Each summer, LOUCC hosts “Connections Camp,” a weeklong day camp for children ages 8 through 13, with older teens participating as camp counselors. Specific themes change each year but generally focus on the connections we have to our wider communities and how all people and creatures are woven into the same fabric of life. In 2011, the theme focused on Anti-Bullying, where children and youth played games, learned songs, participated in service activities, and created a Public Service Announcement about respecting differences and protecting others.
Other Connections Camp activities have included volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank, learning sign language, meeting service dogs and their trainers, and hiking at nearby Tryon Creek State Park.
