Children & Youth
Our Faith Development Team organizes weekly church school classes for our youngest attendees. Nursery care is provided each Sunday for children up to four years old. Children and youth begin each Sunday service in the sanctuary with their families. Activity bags are available in the entryway and help children make connections to their faith.
During most services, children, youth, and teachers are dismissed for church school shortly after the scripture reading. Teachers use The Whole People of God curriculum for children in grades K-2, 3-6, and 7-12. Teachers provide age appropriate activities, such as art projects and games, to help students engage biblical lessons and learn the stories and traditions of our faith.
Youth Mission & Service Activities
Youth involvement in mission and service activities is a valued component of our faith development program. Our children and youth help pack our annual Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets and raise money each year for the Oregon Food Bank through Souper Bowl Sunday. Other recent mission activities have included volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank, helping prepare the Transitional Shelter apartment for new families, and raising money toward clean water projects in Haiti.
Each year, a number of our middle and high-school students attend UCC youth events at the conference, regional, and national levels. Summer camps at our two Central Pacific Conference camps, Pilgrim Cove in Idaho and Camp Adams in Oregon, are popular with our children and youth of all ages.
